What was actually done
NHTSA's remedy text says modules, not packs. In practice GM deployed diagnostic software that flags defective modules, so some cars got a full pack assembly, many got module sets, and some got software plus a clean diagnostic result. Anyone telling you every Bolt got a brand new pack is wrong.
If you are buying one
Run the VIN through NHTSA and through GM's own owner lookup. If 21V-560 or 21V-650 shows as open or incomplete, the remedy has not been done. Ask the dealer to pull the service history for battery pack or module part numbers. GM's Bolt concierge line is 1-833-382-4389.
Buying a Used EV or Hybrid?
Get the battery measured before you pay for it. A PPI Auto inspector tests the pack on the car you are looking at and sends you the numbers. Starting at $225.
