What Goes Wrong

Reported failures, each from a source listed below, as of October 7, 2026.

  • Honda Service Bulletin 14-064 (October 2014 product update, all 2011-12 CR-Z) says the IMA battery control software incorrectly maintains the battery so that over time it can develop a 'memory effect' that appears as reduced capacity, and DTC P0A7F may be stored; the fix is a software update. (static.nhtsa.gov: MC-10118839-9999.pdf, 2026-10-07)

Symptoms

  • Honda's October 2014 dealer notice for product update 14-064 says owners may see the IMA battery charge indicator jump and/or the MIL come on with DTC P0A7F. (static.nhtsa.gov: MC-10118827-9999.pdf, 2026-10-07)

Recalls

  • 11V458000 2011 On manual-transmission cars, if the engine stalls while the brake is released, engine control software may let the hybrid system's electric motor move the car opposite to the selected direction.
